Currently running a NAS Synology DS212+, DSM 4.0-2228

2 needed modules:
- ftdi_sio.ko
- usbserial.ko

insmod on each.

Possibly needed, create device node:

mknod /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 c 188 0
stty -F /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 1200 sane evenp parenb cs7 -crtscts

Plugging USB-Serial converted should show something like this on dmesg:
